Beat Lechmann began his career in the medical field in 1993 with the AO/ASIF Development Institute. In 1999, Beat assumed the role of head of Spine product development and roles of increasing responsibility for the Spine platforms, first within Mathys Medical and then for Synthes post-merger.
Beat’s leadership in Spine innovation culminated in the role of Head of Spine Innovations and degenerative diseases treatments, in which he led a team focused on the exploration of new treatment concepts and technologies for the surgical treatment of the spine and other degenerative musculoskeletal diseases. Beat’s following role has been the Director of Product Development in the field of “Soft Tissue Solutions,” with the responsibility to start up a new business unit and product offerings for the surgical treatment of sports injuries and other degenerative soft tissue conditions.
He is further assigned as Early Innovation Partner on behalf of J&J Innovation in the London partnering office for Medtech opportunities in the EMEA region.
Beat is named inventor on 49 issued U.S. patents and investigator on several published scientific posters and publications. He is also teaching in Master programs at the University Bern.
